If food and shelter are the necessities of life then perhaps it does not seem so unusual for a chef to become a building designer.After selling his successful Sydney Restaurants "The Pig & The Olive" in 1998, Mark undertook a seachange & settled on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
Inspired by the beach environment & sub tropical climate, Mark returned to studies and is now a licensed building designer & BDAQ member.
Marks' design philosophy centres on creating functional spaces that are aesthetically pleasing and incorporate the principals of energy efficiency & sustainable design.
He believes the natural environment including sun position, breeze paths, outlook & vegetation are crucial elements of good design and are integral to the liveability & function of a home or work environment.

MRD is a small building design practice situated at Peregian Beach on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast. The focus of the company is primarily residential & small commercial design, including new houses, low rise apartments, duplexes and alterations & additions to existing buildings.
